Purchase Ledger Clerk

Processing of purchase ledger transactions to include; supplier invoices, expense claims & credit cards - ensuring the accuracy of resulting costs.


  • Obtain & process supplier invoices
  • Check & process employee expense claims
  • Download & import credit card transactions
  • Transaction checking & certification
  • Look to resolve discrepancies by liaising with internal buyers & external suppliers
  • Liaise with Travel coordinator to ensure credit card data captured is accurate
  • Document filing (electronic and paper)
  • Liaise directly with P/L controller & manager to aid with weekly payment preparations
  • Draft documentation of core transaction processing and accounting processes – How to Guides


  • Ad hoc duties as required
  • Liaise with Auditors to provide required information/clarifications as necessary


  • Identify and recommend process changes to enable future scaling  
  • Identify methods to improve data integrity


  • Communicate process changes and requirements to stakeholders
  • Identify own training needs  
  • Engage in regular performance appraisals and review.


  • 5 + GCSES including Maths & English
  • Good computer skills; competent in Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Good communication skills; written & verbal
  • Experience in Purchase Ledger preferred, but on job training will be provided

  • Financial Perspective: Maintain accuracy of company financials ensuring posting/coding accuracy  
  • Customer Perspective: Satisfy both internal and external stakeholders through efficient document processing to ensure payments are kept to term  
  • Internal Process Perspective: Deliver process improvement, seek to automate manual processes whilst documenting new process  

Learning and Growing Perspective: You will have the option to undertake training for skills enhancement
