Senior .NET Software Developer

NewVoiceMedia is Europe’s leading provider of hosted Contact Centre Solutions. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years strong full lifecycle software development experience ideally within an Agile environment.

Your role will be to work within our development team, contributing to our product set and helping drive best practice and the automation of our test processes.

Essential skills:
C#, ASP.NET, Visual Studio 2005/2008, design patterns. Experience of unit testing/test driven development and continuous integration

Preferred Skills:
C++, Visual Basic, Javascript, Ajax, CSS, Classic ASP, Python, NUnit, MSBuild or NAnt, telephony or call control background.

Test Manager

The test manager will be responsible for all aspects of test planning and execution to ensure that we deliver a high quality product to our customers. 

This is a hands-on role and the successful candidate will need to be a self-starter and be willing to execute tests as well as lead the test function.
The role will be based at our head office in Basingstoke.

Job objective

  • Manage the test function to ensure that our product is delivered to the required quality.
  • Define and oversee a comprehensive test programme to cover all product releases.
  • Report accurately and in a timely manner on all issues detected during testing.
  • Work with the management team and cross-functional teams to manage any issues which arise during the test, to allow testing to continue as effectively as possible and to ensure we launch on time.
  • An Agile methodology is used and this means that test automation is important. The test manager must automate as many tests as possible to ensure the efficient use of resources and ensure the quality criteria are met.

Key tasks & responsibilities

  • Ensure that the test strategy is effective and communicated to staff.
  • Preparation of detailed test plans, test specifications and test suites to ensure that the software meets the required standards.
  • Management of all test staff and recruitment of new test staff.
  • Ensure that quality practices and quality improvements are implemented.
  • Lead the testing team to execute the defined tests.
  • Ensure that auditable test records are kept.
  • Ensure that existing test tools for functional and non-functional tests are fully exploited.
  • Identify and implement new test tools to continuously improve testing productivity and quality performance.

Skills & experience required

  • At least five years experience in a test management role
  • Structured approach to test definition and management
  • Strong Testing and QA industry knowledge 
  • A degree in software testing, computer science or similar
  • Good communications skills
  • Knowledge and experience of a broad range of test tools – especially automation test tools
  • Enthusiastic team member and a self starter


Skills & experience desired

  • ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Management
  • Coding experience e.g. C#, javascript
  • Experience of Windows Server and MySQL
  • Knowledge of Telecoms testing - specifically ISDN and SIP
  • Security testing
  • Working knowledge of test tools such as Wireshark and Selenium

Background - the opportunity
The company is expanding and we have a new vacancy for a Senior Test Analyst.

We are constantly upgrading our most strategic contact centre product and also have new products that we need to bring to the market.  The test analyst is responsible for test planning and execution to ensure that we deliver a high quality product to our customers.
