What’s in a telephone number?
Change is coming in the way organisations fund their voice based customer service operations. Both the EU and Ofcom have designs on the number range and pricing of such services.
The key principle of the change is that traders who operate telephone hotlines allowing the consumer to contact them in relation to a contract will not be able to charge more than the basic telephone rate for the calls. That means that existing customers will not be charged premium rates to receive customer service. Sounds great of course for consumers, but what does it mean for businesses?
